Scent of Monsoon
The weaving of the Bhujodi wool panel was accompanied by the song of the working loom, the tinkling of the anklets worn by the womenfolk as they busily walked about the courtyard, and the low rumbling of rain clouds. This semi-arid region transforms into a different place during the monsoons.
A cool breeze laden with the scent of monsoon calmed his senses, as the artisans worked on the loom. Once woven, the material was sent to the Khatri dyers for the Bandhani work. The rabari embroidery was done by a sweet-natured young woman, who was also working on an intricately embroidered bag for her trousseau. Her joy was palpable, traces of which can be seen on this piece. The red tussar silk panel embellished with aari-work enhances the beauty of this handmade ladies stole.
